Our story so far

Strengthening Community Partnership and Empowerment (SCOPE) was established in 1999 to address HIV and AIDS and other health challenges.

Since then we have grown and diversified our activities into areas such as agriculture and the environment. Despite this growth, we have remained close to our communities.

Our local focus means we identify with the real needs of communities, work in partnership with them and other stakeholders to find lasting solutions to critical challenges.

Implementing many large projects and working in partnership with capacity building organizations such as VSO Jitolee and Social Impact has enhanced our capacity in project management, monitoring and evaluation as well as financial management.

Below is a brief timeline of our History:

  • SCOPE  was set up in 1999 when our first office in Mnarani with a further satellite office in Vitengeni
  • 2001 officially registered with Department of Social Services as a Community Based Organization
  • 2003 secured funding of RRF funds for HIV/AIDS prevention and care
  • 2005 Awarded Outstanding Achievement by USAID in the Community HIV/AIDS intervention Program
  • 2007 moved into new headquaters in Kilifi
  • 2008 SCOPE is a recognized Non Government Organization
  • 2011 agreed major partnerships with Population Council and International Labour Organisation based on the needs of our community

SCOPE has offices in Kilifi plus a satellite offices in Mariakani and Vitengeni (pictured above)

We are a key partner with local Governments Ministries incl. Health, Agricultural, Justice and Constitutional Affairs and we work closely with local area chiefs and administration to maximize the impact of our work.
